Long long time ago

Well it feels like that.

Example of maxi taxi…

It has been a long time since my last blog. Since 15/12/2019 I have been working as a Maxi Taxi Driver for Black and White Cabs. Due to the 12 hours shifts and being 5 to 7 times a week, there was not much time to myself. So no blogging either. When I did have a couple or three days off, it took that tie to recover before the next shift.

So then came COVID-19, and due to the number of drivers that pulled out during the lockdown, I decided to stick it out. Some money was made but not as much as as expected. With the easing of restrictions, the increase of fares was gradual, making me wonder if this was worthwhile.

This was proved by the offence rate being frequent at the start to very infrequent by December 2020. Any way I accumulated enough points to have my licence suspended for 3 months.

While doing this work, I had the responsibility to report to Centrelink profit and loss statements of the business as a taxi driver. Every visit to Centrelink proved a chore as different staff members had differing views as to my work status and how to report.

Now I am serving my license suspension, which my licence is restored with full points on 11 April. This is giving me time to reflect on what I have done and achieved, and whether it was all worthwhile.

As I reflect on this an opportunity for a volunteer job has arisen, which is right up my alley of being paid working in my passion of bushwalking. I checked my eligibility and the terms of the work of 15 hours a week is the criteria to meet my mutual obligations to be paid full JobSeeker. This has given me motivation to apply for the position.

So with these three months, I am a free agent, and available to lead walks at any time. I just need transport.

This is what I crave
