The day started early as I rose to get ready for a day going to Church and other activities. This time I decided and agreed with my wife to take the car for the day. So after breakfast, I hit the road, albeit about 20 minutes later than anticipated. I drove to my work lunch buddy’s (WLB) home and met her, her boyfriend (WLBBF), and her parents (WLBM & WLBD). After a quick greeting, WLBBF, WLB and I left in WLBBF’s car with WLBBF driving. Down the Pacific Motorway, we headed to once again enter the Territory of NSW!
Upon arrival at Kingscliff Seventh Day Adventist Church, it was time for the Sabbath School session. The session covered the Lord’s Prayer and the meaning of its words, and whether prayers are answered. Questions arose about worry and boldness, the definition and context of “hallowed”, “kingdom come”, and “daily bread”. The hour went so quick that further study for the rest is required.
After the Sabbath School, the main sermon commenced and proceeded to investigate the 7 “I AMs” of Jesus Christ:
- “I am the bread of life”
- “I am the light of the world”
- “I am the door”
- “I am the good shepherd”
- “I am the resurrection”
- “I am the way, the truth, the light”
- “I am the true vine”
The opening was from C.S. Lewis “Mere Christianity” and explored whether Jesus was a “Lunatic, Liar, or Lord”, or in other terms “Mad, Bad, or God”
Once the sermon was over, there was the opportunity for the free lunch, but due to WLBM & WLBD being home from their church, we headed back to WLB’s home and had lunch there. Not long after we arrived, WLBM & WLBD, left for their church for a series of lectures. We had lunch and then decided on a walk in the Albert River Parklands. I was considering that after the walk it was time to head home, but then noticed the highway was slow…a typical afternoon on the Pacific Motorway heading back to Brisbane.
So went back to WLB’s home and watched the movie “Esther”, based on the book of “Esther”. It was a good and interesting movie and we then went to Logan Reserve SDA Church to catch up on the lectures. Once these lectures had finished, WLBM came out to us and I had quite a conversation with her, about me, plus other humour and discussion. WLBD then appeared and joined in. We then decided to head back to WLB’s home and have dinner and watch a movie.
Upon arrival at home, pizzas were ordered to pick up and then we went off and picked up dinner, came back and “Candid Camera” DVD was ready to go. Settled in with the whole WLB family and WLBBF and had dinner and watched a series of Candid Camera moments through its history. Such a great DVD that after 2 hours decided it was definitely time to head home.
Drove home and the roads were quiet.
Arrived home, unloaded the car and then went to bed.
That was the best day for me ever! This is the best decision I have made. From now on though it will be using the train, as the car was needed at home.
